🧢 What Makes You Different

It’s Hat Day at school. You wear a colorful cap your grandma gave you from her home country.

In the hallway, someone says, “That hat looks weird!” Others giggle.

You feel your face get hot. You love your hat—but now you’re unsure.

What do you do?

You say, “It’s from my grandma. It’s part of our culture.”

One person says, “Oh,” and another says, “That’s actually pretty cool.”

You quickly take off your hat and shove it in your bag. You feel sad but hope no one says more.

Later, your teacher notices and asks, “Didn’t you bring something special?”

You walk away. No one follows, but your feelings stay with you.

In class, a friend says, “Hey, I liked your hat.”

You wear your hat proudly. You start to notice others smiling at it, not laughing.

You feel proud for being brave.

At lunch, someone asks, “Where’s your hat from again?”

You explain the colors and the story behind it. A few kids say, “That’s awesome!”

You stand up and say, “This hat is from my grandma in [your culture].”

The class listens. The teacher claps. You sit down with a smile.
